Mill to close
Winstone Pulp International Limited' s Karioi pulp mill is to close for a month, according to unconfirmed reports. The Bulletin understands that staff have been asked to take annual leave where possible. The shutdown is not for maintenance, but in response to a glut in the pulp market. WPI's decision reflects a similar
onemaaeattneenaor tyyo, when a combination of factors including low prices and lack of storage space saw pulp production stop for a short time. The Bulletin was unable to confirm the reports, being told that any official comment had to come from WPI general manager Dave Anderson, who is overseas on annual leave.
