Ash beauty

Turning Ruapehu ash into a thing of beauty follows turning pots for a group of Wanganui Regional Community Polytech ceramic students. The class have been collecting the fresh volcanic ash from roadsides outside the Tongariro National Park to use for ceramic glazes on their pottery coffee cups, tiles, candle holders, bowls and urns. The items will be on sale in the Ruapehu area later, possibly at the carrot festival.
