Taihape beat Ruapehu College

Ruapehu college 2nd XV played their most crucial game of the season when they came up against Taihape College on Saturday, 17 August. They needed a win to stay on top of the competition. However, it was Taihape' s day and they took the match winning 32-12. Ruapehu started strongly, putting on a good display of driving rugby, particularly in the first 1 0 minutes of the game. Taihape turned the tables and began to dominate play, scoring two tries and two conversions in the first half. Ruapehu's Andrew Evans thrilled supporters and gave his team a boost as he made his way over the linewith two tries in quick succession. Quentin Gordon converted one with a well-positioned kick. Although Ruapehu College lost their game, they played well as a team with the forward pack showing dominance throughout the game with good driving, rucking and mauling to maintain possession. The team let themselves down, giving away penalties for infringements and some offside play. Taihape's other points came from another try and conversion and two penalties.
