Bridge

There was a good turnout at bridge on Wednesday 10 July with all partnerships fine tuning their bidding and play for the annual winter tournament, held on Sunday 14 July. Heather Cranston and Ron Martin are playing really good bridge at the moment and were too good for their opposition, scoring 105 points out of a possible 120. They took out the north-south competition with 57.09% (65.63) ahead of John and Sandra Eades who finished on 53.35% (59.38). Pauline Le Noel and Bob Tumataroa got off to a shaky start losing three out of the first four boards to Ron and Heather, but they recovered quickly and went on to win the east-west competition with 57.71% (61.25). Sarah Hamlin and Gloria King finished in second place with 54.29% (51.25) and in doing so relegated Tracy Ennis and Bill Te Karu into third place.
