Scouts to quiz for trip cash
Ohakune Scouts have once again invited teams of four people to do battle against each other in the name of fun, stretching their general knowledge in the annual quiz night. The mid-winter Ohakune Scout Group quiz night is on Friday 9 August at the Waimarino Golf Clubrooms. Ten sets of 10 questions on a wide range of subjects are being compiled to test general knowledge. If previous quiz nights are any indication fierce rivalry between normally friendly and in some cases even married couples will be the order of the day. There will be cash prizes for the winning teams as well as spot prizes for the most original answer in each round. Funds raised this time are for 14 scouts and three leaders to travel to Los Angeles for a Scout Jamboree in July 1997. Each scout must raise $3500 plus spending money for this once-in-a-lifetime trip.
