Reserves game cut short
Ruapehu Senior Reserves were home to Marist Wanganui at Raetihi this week, in a game that was cut short due to bad behaviour. Fine weather and reasonably good ground conditions prevailed, which game players the chance for a more flowing, open type of game. Both sides played good attacking rugby in the first half, driving well in rucks and mauls.
Marist had the upper hand, putting 22 points on the board with four tries and a conversion. Ruapehu came back with a well-deserved try and conversion. The half time score 22-7. The second half saw scrappy play at times by both sides. However Ruapehu started well with a brilliant try in the comer by Edward Taura two minutes into the half. The try was not converted, the score 2212. Two more tries and two conversions game Marist a handy lead 36- 12. Ruapehu came back with another converted try with a penalty to Marist, the score 3919. The game became quite scrappy with members of both teams arguing with the referee resulting in the game being called off in the 22nd minute. Player of the day for Marist was Daimen McCrea and for Ruapehu, Bully Chambers - Referee!
