Waimarino Golf

At last a nice day at the golf course was had on Sunday. A good field took part in the first round of qualifying for club champs. Because of the lack of play over the past few weeks some of the scores were not too hot. However, there was the exception. Highlight of the day was club captain Wayne Marsh's round of 72 even par

to make him top qualifier at this stage. Wayne' s round won him the senior division for the day with a net 62. Second equal were Trevor Frederick and Neil Lietz on net 67. In the juniors a net 69 saw Mike Fraser take out the day with Dwayne Marsh and Mark Hays. In the ladies, Helen Hammond came through with a net 73 to take the honours followed at a distance by Sarah Lind, Lyn Drinkwater and Barbara Dempsey all on the same score. A reminder to all golfers that all matches that need to be played will have to be completed by this Sunday 14 July. This extension has been granted due to the bad weather over recent weeks. If not completed then all players will be withdrawn from these competitions. Sunday 's sponsors were James Ennis painter, and Ruapehu Dipping Services.
