Ruapehu meet Taihape for winter sports exchange

By Level 1 1 Media Studies pupils Taihape College was able to field just the traditional netball and rugby teams for their annual winter clash against Ruapehu College at Ohakune on Wednesday 6 June. Golfers, basketball, badminton and squash players did not get to compete. Games started at 11.15 in brilliant sunshine with plenty of sideline support from parents and friends. Results were not in Ruapehu' s favour. Lack of fitness possibly accounted for Netball A going down 50-38 to Taihape after leading 32-30 at the end of the third quarter. Netball B went down 24-20. The First Fifteen was beaten 155 with rugby fans exclaiming at Shane Albert' s courageous tackle on one of the Taihape giants. The Second Fifteen suffered a 48-2 loss. Open, fair play was a feature of the matches and the day concluded with refreshments provided by Ruapehu team members.
