Waimarino golf

Sunday 18 May a small field of 27 fronted up to the Club Captain for a stableford round. With the weather and course conditions perfect it was disappointing to the club not to have a larger field. Senior Men's division was won along with the roarers mug by Pat Goldfinch with a best-ever round of 75 and a massive 45 points; 2nd Barry Drinkwater on 40 pts, 3rd Wayne Marsh on 38, 4th Micheal Lloyd with 37. In the Junior Men Richard Taoa has found form and with 43 pts took out 1 st (it must be the new golf balls — claims the club PRO); 2nd was Brian Hays and Simon Barlow both with 39, 3rd Dwayne Marsh and Joe Martin on 37. The Women' s Division was won by Gillian White with 41pts, Nancy Winter on 38 2nd, Elayne Goldfinch, 37, was 3rd and the ever-present Lyn Drinkwater 4th with 36. "It was pleasing to see 1 0 juniors turn out for the start of Junior Golf on Sunday morning at 9.30, and hopefully this number will increase," said club rep Graeme Lind. Sponsor for the Club Day was the One Stop Store in Raetihi . Golf Professional Marty n Andrews from Wanganui will be at the club on 16 June for coaching — see the notice board for booking times. The lucky number draw was 107, Mrs J Wiggens, who was not present.
