Not Army's business

• I refer to "Joes" Letter to the Editor (Waiouru Business Support) in the 14 May edition of the Bulletin. Joe is not correct in asserting that the Army does not support local business. It should be remembered that the Army is an employer, not a business management service. The business owner is the only one who can induce customers, private or corporate, to support their business. Those owners who do not provide what the customer wants will fail, and they should not blame local employers, however large or small, for their failure. If Joe is aware of any small business in Waiouru being conducted in an illegal manner he should of course contact the police. In matters as serious as those alleged it is not only improper to conceal knowledge of illegal activities, but it is also unworthy of the accuser to hide behind the anonymity of a pseudonym. Contrary to what Joe states, there is a bank and a butcher in Waiouru. My family support these businesses with our custom because they provide an excellent service which we appreciate.
