Raetihi stock sale sound
Raetihi ' s sheep and cattle sale held last Thursday , 9 May, realised sound prices that compared well with others from both the Wanganui apd Horo whenua areas. Prices ranged from $30 to $36.50 for ram lambs and wether lambs. M/s lambs fetched $22 to $28.70, with good male lambs gaining $31.80 and $34.50. There were some good prices forewe lambs, $27 to $33. Smaller cully lambs averaged$21. The cattle prices were also fairly good; 1 8-month heifers sold for $ 1 72, $ 1 90 and $200. Some weaner steers went for $132, 1 8-month old steers fetched $280 and others of 30 months went for $367. Buyers came from Hawkes Bay, Manawatu, Rangitikei and Wanganui. This sale was the last sale of the season for Raetihi. There is, however, a Waimarino combined beef breeders bull sale set down for July and the Okahu Hereford bull sale in May.
