Police partner pipped

• As a police officer's partner, I was upset by the oneeyed article in the 7 May issue of the Ruapehu Bulletin. I feel the police should save been given a right of reply. All police officers' partners expect to be treated the same as the rest of the community. Personally, if I get caught speeding, then I expect to pay the fine for the crime. There is one law and that applies to police partners, the community and police officers themselves. 'Annoyed Local' should have approached the police first with his concerns, rather than writing an article casting a slur on the characters of all police partners. Police Officer's Partner EDITOR REPLIES: The item Police Officer's Partner refers to was not an article but a letter to the editor submitted by a reader. We would like to remind readers that letters to the editor reflect the opinions of the writers and not necessarily the Ruapehu Bulletin. The Bu//ef/'n'spolicywith regard to rights of repiy is to offer this in the issue following publication of the letter, unless the letter writer requests that it be in the same issue. We welcome comment on this policy.
