Ohakune squash

King Country Longrun C Grade tournament results : There were 58 entries in the King Country Longrun C grade tournament hosted by the Ohakune Squash Club at the weekend. Entrants came from Ashhurst, Raetihi, Wanganui, Patea, Reperoa, Taihape, Hastings and Rangatikei as well as our own local entries. Of particular interest were the two Katene sisters, Colleen and Linda. Linda, at age 1 2, won the Women' s division one, beating top local player, Robyn Pratt 3/ 1 in the final, while sister Colleen, at only 10 years of age, won the Women' s division two, beating local player Karen Cranston 3/1 in the final. "It was a pleasure to see such talent at such a young age, clearly both girls have an amazing future ahead of them", said John Laurensen. In the Men' s division one final, John Laurenson had a comfortable 3/0 win over Waimarino representative Doug Satler. Inter-house squash will be starting this Thursday with six teams of seven. Inter-club draw for Ruapehu zone Men' s teams tonight, Tuesday 7 May: Ruapehu College vs Turangi at Ohakune; Waimarino vs Ohakune 1 at Raetihi; Ohakune 4 vs Ohakune 2 at Ohakune;

Ohakune 3 vs Taumarunui at Ohakune. Games start at 7.30pm, visitors most welcome. Women's central division one: Ohakune vs Puketoi to be played at Palmerston North.
