Lions scrap for funds for good works

The past-month at the Ruapehu Lions Club has been reasonably quiet. The major fund-raising for the club is the on-going collection of scrap metal. Another wagon load has been sent to Auckland but there is stillmore to be collected and more man power needed ai the working bees. The club has sponsored two local girls from the Badminton Club, helping them on their way to Australia as representatives of the New Zealand Central Districts Badminton team. The club says that the experience will undoubtedly be of great benefit to them. A donation has been given to the Cancer Society to help in the continuing research into prostate cancer.
