Pipiriki House on agenda

The future of Pipiriki House is one of the items for discussion at the Pipiriki Incorporation's annual general meeting in the tiny upriver settlement next month. Bob Gray, chairman of the Incorporation, said that building development stopped five years ago due to lack of resources. He said those involved, many of them both shareholders and members of the Pipiriki community, strongly believed the time had come to progress with the building development. The meeting at the Paraweka Marae in Pipiriki will discuss all matters concerning the running of the Incorporation, including negotiations on a tripartite basis with the Ruapehu District Council and Department of Conservation regarding the establishment of an information centre. Mr Gray said that between 50 and 60 shareholders regularly attended the meeting but with the levels of interest being shown in the project he anticipated numbers could double.
