Support for squash challenge
4 October 1995 The Waimarino Squash Club played host again, and held the annual Security and General mixed Jeam's trophy squash challenge. There was a great support and about 30 competitors who came from four Clubs represented were from Taihape, Taumarunui, Turangi and Raetihi. Taumamnui played Turangi in the finals and won 35/32. Waimarino played Turangi in the decider third spot and won 28/25. Sarina Marumaru speaking on behalf of the host club, thanked the players and all supporters for coming to Raetihi. Ms Marumaru said she was thrilled to see such a large turnout and to see so many familiar faces back again. Taihape won the trophy last year, so Ms Marumaru called on their team's captain, Warner Te Oriki, to present the trophy to Taumarunui's captain Justine Wheeler. Waimarino Squash Club are yet to decide on a date for their end of year social.
