Turoa Village paths not maintained
Council' s policy on maintenance of Turoa Village paths is to be researched for the Waimarino Community Board after a submission calling for better maintenance of the footpaths. The board was presented a submission from the Turoa Village Residents' Association complaining about the lack of maintenance, saying that given the size of the rates contribution from the village it was not unreasonable to expect some attention to the problems. However, the board heard that the council is responsible for very few paths in the village. "Most of the paths are on private land as part of the original development," explained area engineer Don Sattler. "I believe that no reserve contribution was taken for the development on the basis that they (the developers, Turoa Ski Field) would retain the responsibility of paths etc."
