Garden monster
• Have we created a monster? I am concerned to see a garden centre that, whilst legally formed, dri ves a stake through the heart of the good people of our community. We as the ratepayers through RDC are the shareholders of this company but have no rights to vote. Luckily with the local body elections we can move people who fail to realise the moral principals that are at stake. With our rural roads RCL Ltd is failing to meet the standards required and for people on our community board and council to accept airy-fairy excuses is not good enough. For Cliff (Houston) to say that excessive rain is the problem only highlights the ready made excuses to cover up the lack of normal preventive maintenance and metal that our rural roads need. If our roads are class one let' s get them up to standard and make them safe again. Let's tame the monster to feed out of our hands.
