Safety for seniors

• At the meeting last week of our Ohakune Senior Citizens much discussion was heard about the traffic, and parking, in Goldfinch Street in Ohakune. On the days when the mountain is closed because of the weather, the traffic is absolutely diabolical, and sincethePost Shop was shifted into the bookshop it has added to the confusion with double parking to clear the private mail boxes. Also, we would like to see (if possible) judder bars at the corners of Ayr and Goldfinch Streets to slow the traffic, and also to make it safer for us senior citizens (and mothers with children) to cross the road. How about a pedestrian crossing by the Trustbank and also make the entry to New World car park "entry only" with the exit made into Ayr Street? At present we take our lives in our hands, and it is only time before a serious accident happens. "Don't drive as if you own the road — drive as if you own the car"
