Waimarino Golf

If Sunday week ago was a wonderful Waimarino winters day then it was business as usual last Sunday. It turned cold during the day and as most golfers will agree the ball didn't carry anywhere near as far as normal, or maybe that is just a golfer's lament, because obviously the conditions didn't affect some. Results: Ladies 1 H Hammond 48; 2 S Lind 39; 3 P Mowat snr 38. Juniors: 1 A Hinana 41; 2 J Martin 38; 3 M Sullivan 36. Seniors; 1 J Hammond 37; 2 P Goldfinch 36. Next weekend we host two tournaments. On Saturday

there will be a sponsored day to help raise money for the Windles fire appeal, where golfers and non golfers alike are encouraged to come out and join us in a round of golf. Tee-off for the 18 holes will be at 12.30pm. Enquiries to Wayne Marsh on 385-8564. On Sunday we host the Taumarunui Golf Club, after being postponed from last week. All club members are strongly urged to come and compete with our long-time rivals and friends from the other side of the hill. Some good prizes are on offer so come and join us in our quest to regain the Manson Cup. The tee-off is 1 1am. Reminders; Committee meeting this Tuesday at the earlier time of 7.30pm. Bar duty for this week is Barry Drinkwater.
