RSBA to consider name change
The Ruapehu South Business Association is to consider a name change, to "Winning Waimarino", at its annual meeting this week. This is the "action name" the Mainstreet project has been using over the past 1 8 months. As a subcommittee of the RSBA, Mainstreet has been gaining a high positive profile, obviously helped by a name everyone can relate to," said mainstreet coordinator Sue Allomes. "As the design consultancy for Ohakune and Raetihi gets under way the business association feels it
is time to rationalise its focus and hence its name." "It is the whole community that gains from positive developments in our town, not just the business sector," she said, "and especially as some of our hardest workers and supporters are not in business it is appropriate to consider them in the name of the association." To honour the occasion the mayor, Garrick Workman, has undertaken to present a large number of Kiwi Host Certificates. This national service industry programme has since its inception in 1990 been a high profile activity of the RSBA. Association KiwiHost coordinator and tutor David Squires said he is pleased individuals and firms have made the effort to support
the programme. Certificates are to be presented to staff of the Powderhorn Chateau, Turoa Ski Resort, Waiouru Army Museum and Army Camp among others. The new Powderhorn Chateau is the venue for the meeting. The AGM is an open function and everyone who is interested is welcome to attend: Tuesday 25 July 5.30pm Ruapehu Room, Powderhorn Chateau.
