Possible loss of hospital causes concern
# There has been some public concern re The Waimarino new Health Centre, being so close to the road. For people of The Waimarino concern should be, just what is this Health Centre going to provide. Over a year ago, at the public meeting, we were originally promised the total of nine beds. We then learnt that there was only going to be five beds. Now, after another delay, we find there are not going to be any beds as such for occupancy, and people needing admission to hospital will be admitted to Taihape Hospital. The excuse being, further cuts in funding since the budget. Funding for Waimarino Health Centre was allocated last year, or over the past two years' budget. Come on people of the Waimarino — stand up and be counted. Fight for your rights. We pay taxes and have rights — it's not too late. Our member of parliament talks about his vision for beyond 2000. Where do the people of Waimarino fit into his scheme of things? He is our member of parliament. What has he done for us, apart from his government closing our hospital, which has served the Waimarino District well, with the promise of a much better and more up-to-date nine bed building close to town. Only this morning we hear unofficially that we will not
have a 24 hour service as such. Good Health Wanganui — is this correct?
