Ohakune school centenary running to plan
Arrangements for the Centennial celebrations of the Ohakune Primary school/ district high school, are well under way. The committee meets fortnightly now to keep plans running to schedule. Merle Weller, who is in charge of registration, has sent forms out all over New Zealand as well as overseas. Local former pupils are slow to come forward and it is hoped that they will register before the October deadline. As the celebrations are planned for Waitangi weekend, 2-4 February 1996, catering has to be settled early in November. The celebrations will be an occasion for the whole community as former pupils, teachers, committee and caretakers from schools which have closed, and consolidated on Ohakune Primary school ( Karioi, Rangataua, Convent, Umumuri and Pokaka) are all encouraged to enrol. Anecdotes and memories are still welcome to be included in the Centennial booklet, which is well under way. The committee encourages everyone to enrol, to write and play their part in making this a memorable celebrations.
