Ruapehu's virtues becoming well-known
In the eyes of some international travel buyers, the Ruapehu District is seen as an exciting and new place to include on their tour itineraries according to the Ruapehu District Council's marketing manager Bruce Rollinson. The marketing unit and key product suppliers from the district were recently in Auckland to promote the area at Tourism Rendezvous New Zealand (TRENZ). This is the second year representing the district at New Zealand' s largest travel trade show and buyers were definitely looking for new products and services, said Mr Rollinson. TRENZ is the only opportunity to promote the Ruapehu District
to international buyers from major markets in Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States. "The Council first participated in TRENZ last year and already some of these buyers had requested to see us this year to discuss itinerary planning," said Mr Rollinson. Following TRENZ, 14 key international buyers were hosted by operators to experience first-hand the activities the Ruapehu District is becoming internationally recognised for. Mr Rollinson said he expected more visits over the next month from representatives of key buyers who will be visiting the area to inspect facilities and generally get a feel for what the district has to offer.
