Police arrested a Raetihi man for dri ving while disqualified on Ward Street, Raetihi, on Thursday 1 1 May. He will be appearing in the Ohakune District Court on Thursday 18 May. An Ohakune man is to appear in the Ohakune District Court on Thursday for an assault on three local people at a party held at an Ohakune dwelling on Saturday 6 May. All three Victims required medical treatment. Another Ohakune man will be appearing in Court this week for an assault in a co- worker, at a Karioi property last week. The Victim in this matter required medical treatment. Offenders forced entry into a locked vehicle parked outside the Raetihi Doctor's surgery in Seddon Street on Monday 8 May and removed property to the value of $860.00. Among the items stolen were two fishing rods and assorted music tapes. The incident qccurred sometime between 2pm and 3.15pm.
Police are investigating the attempted burglary of the Raetihi Fire Station on Monday 8 May. A resident fireman was woken by noises coming from the rear of the building. Upon investigation he discovered offenders had removed two glass louvre panes from a rear window, but had decamped when disturbed. Enquiries are continuing into a vicious assault on a local man at the Powderkeg Inn on Saturday 1 3 May. The Victim was punched by another local man and hit his head on the floor of the establishment. The offender is known to Police, who are further investigating the incident.
