Community funds allocations announced
Funds made available to community groups by Community Organisations Grants Service (COGS) were made public last week. The service aims to provide grants to organisations who deliver "essential social services" to their community. Groups receiving funds this year in the Waimarino and Waiouru include: Ohakune Playcentre, $3150; Taihape/Waiouru Victim Support Group, $10,320; Ruapehu Maori Wardens, $1479;
Keningston Kindergarten Waiouru, $2538; Koriniti Marae, $4600; Ruapehu/ Ohakune Scout Group $1068; Te Ahurewa O Te Ora Trust Ohakune, $4185; Raetihi Community Information Centre, $3949; The agency is holding a display at present on its activities and some of the things it funds, at the Trafalgar Square shopping centre in Wanganui. Representatives from Lottery, Community Development and Department of Internal Affairs information services will be in attendance for assistance. Groups that need assistance to develop their community programme, access
funding from lottery services or individuals who want to apply for a passport or citizenship are invited to visit.
