National Park dump damage

The National Park Refuse Transfer Station is starting to operate satisfactorily but there are still some problems, reports the council, with articles being left on the site and objects deposited in the bins that are not permitted. Recently concrete blocks were deposited in the bins and this caused an overload resulting in severe distortion of the bin when it was being emptied. This was expensive to repair, said Council chief executive Cliff Houston. During March a number of old fridges and other objects were left on the site and

the contractor responsible for emptying the bins had to be paid extra to clear the site, he added. The Council provides a six-monthly service to collect objects such as old fridges and rolls of carpet in urban areas that have a collection service. The next street collection of inorganic matter will be on 24 April for areas that are collected on a Monday, and 26 April for areas collected on a Wednesday. If residents do not wish to take advantage of the collection material should be taken to the nearest Council dump, stated Mr Houston.
