Snow down
The recent cold snap over the country brought Turoa Ski Resort's first snow of the season last Thursday night. There was a dusting right down to the base area, covering the mountain in a fresh white blanket of snow. "That augers well for an early start to the season with Turoa hoping to open the upper mountain in early June, two weeks earlier than last year," said Turoa marketing manager Joanna Savage. New developments over the summer season include an enlarged equipment hire facility on the mountain with "New Zealand' s largest range of snowboards and boots" to cater for this sport's growing demand. Access to the resort will be improved with new chain fitting bays and a new chain fitting service on the road. There will also be more free shuttle buses carrying customers between the lower carparks and the base area. Other new additions include a brand new medical clinic, a new ski school saies centre and a guiding service to show customers around the mountain,
