Senior citizens meet

Some 30 members of the Ohakune Senior Citizens group together with other elderly members of the local community attended a 3-course dinner at the Ohakune Hotel last Tuesday evening. The dinner was part of the donation made to the senior citizens of Ohakune by the Ohakune Hotel Charity and Sports Foundation. A cash award of $1,000 had earlier been made to the group when they met for their monthly meeting in the Lions Den. The money for such donations to various organisations in the community is derived from the Ohakune Hotel' s poker machines and must, by law, be re-distributed within the community.

Ohakune Hotel proprietor, Rick Lowe, said it was particularly pleasant to donate this money and provide this dinner to a group of people who had never asked for money from the Charity and Sports Foundation fund.
