Motocross winner
Over the busy motocross season local rider Shaun Fredricksen of Raetihi has been in a superb winning form, riding his Kawasaki motor cycle, with several titles to his credit. At the Whakatane Motocross Spectacular he won the Christmas 1994 14-15 years 80cc class as well as making his debut in the junior 125cc class on his 1995 Kawasaki, taking a creditable 3rd placing as well. At the North Island junior championships held in New Plymouth he gained 2nd place in the 80cc class. A superb second day's racing from Fredricksen saw him catch and overtake a rival's day-one total to gain this 2nd place. An impressive day ' s racing was next at the Woodville Motocross Spectacular when the high flying Fredricksen won the 80cc title. On his 125cc, he was placed 5th overall — a brilliant effort. He was awarded a special trophy for his achievement. Supercross in Christchurch saw him placed 3rd in the Fulton Hogan supercross and he gained 4th place in the New Zealand supercross champs final, after three rounds at Christchurch, Taupiri and Tokoroa. In preparation for the New Zealand Junior Championships to be held in Tokoroa in May 1995, Fredricksen will be attending a 3-day training course held by top professional coach Steven Gall of Australia (multi-Australian champion). His aim is to ride his Kawasaki to a national title in the top three placings. He is quick to acknowledge his sponsors Kawasaki dealer "Wheels" of Taupo and Corado NZ Ltd (Graphics).
