Waimarino golf

The hole-in-one competition sponsored by Ohakune New World for $1000 was wonon Thursday night when local golfer Steve Gray aced the hole on his second of three attempts. Steve was rapt, to say the least, with his effort. The competition will continue only as a hole in one, not closest to the pin. Another $ 1000 prize is up for the rest of twilight. Good crowds are still turning up so if people want to join in, they are asked to still come along. Winners last Thursday were: senior men: 1st James Ennis 23 pts; 2nd Keith Pitsman 22 pts; 3rd equal John Hansen and Barry Drinkwater, 20 pts. Junior men; 1 st Willie Wilson, 24 pts; 2nd John Murphy, 23 pts; 3rd equal Steve Gray and Tim Mitchell, 21 pts. Ladies; 1st Victoria Johns, 24 pts; 2nd equal Kath Greenwood and Heather Cranston 21 pts. Non golfers 1 st equal, Dean Spry and Adam Hinera, 19 pts, 2nd equal, P Araitanga and K Gibson, 18 pts.
