Local dressage success

The Taihape dressage group which includes a number of local riders held ' a successful competition on Sunday 22 January, catering for ponies, preliminary, novice and elementary horses. Local competitors did well. Kushla Edgarton riding Bolero won both the pony dressage events, Christine Reynolds with her new mare Rose Red won both preliminary classes, and Bernice Frost on The Talisman, was 4th in the novice - 2.4 and 1 st equal in the elementary - 3.2. With those two wins, Rose Red had now up graded to novice after only a few outings. Christine' s other horse 'My Warrior', " isnow in medium, the highest graded dressage horse to come from this district, and will be competing at the Masters Games in Wanganui this week. Kushla and Bolero will be competing in the N.Z. Pony Club ' s zone dressage championships at Hamilton in April. Bernice and The T alisman will also compete at the Masters Games. The Taihape group plans to hold a 2-day programme next year, catering for preliminary to advance, including musical freestyles, which are a fun and up-and-coming event in dressage.
