Waiouru speed petition grows

The petition currently circulating in W aiouru, urging Transit New Zealand to drop the speed limit on SH 1 to 50kph, will be available for signatures until the new year. The petition was to have been presented at the last Waiouru Community Board meeting, but the meeting was cancelled. Petition organisers are concerned that the current speed limit of 70kph is too dangerous for children and families attempting to cross the busy road. Petitions are available for signatures at most Waiouru businesses.
