Bash for Chateau
The Grand Chateau is to be the finish for the next annual Variety Club of New Zealand 'bash' — a car rally featuring pre-1966 vehicles on a fund-raising mission for disadvantaged and needy children. The rally starts in Auckland on 4 March, travels around the North Island stopping overnight at various places including Waiouru and Taumarunui in the Ruapehu District, before fmishing at the Grand Chateau on 10 March. Organisers say a large proportion of the funds raised are channelled back into the communities that host the bash.
