Call for Waimarino events calendar entries

Winning Waimarino, the local Mainstreet group, is once again calling for help. "Every year organisations, individuals, schools and friends get behind a wide range of events," said co-ordinator Sue Allomes. "So these can be coordinated and more people told about them Mainstreet is collating a calendar of events." "If you have any preplanned dates please let us know. The more comprehensive the calendar is the better for everyone. If your

event is included it is more likely that another group won't choose the same date and that way we can avoid clashes." Family theme for Christmas parade Meanwhile the group has released an update of plans for the Year of The Family Christmas Carnival (scheduled for Ohakune, Saturday 10 December). town include Chinese food and barbecue outside Ohakune TV & Electrical; quick fireraffles and Main Trunk Rail Ohakune display; face painting and buskers outside Virtuosity; apple bobbing and in-store competition at Sam & Libby ' s ; free movie for children at Ohakune Kings Theatre; best dressed cowboy or cowgirl open to children with prizes for all at Jean City; bicycle competitions; drawing of the Giant Christmas Hamper - worth hundreds of dollars donated

by Ohakune retailers; Santa Parade with all the children through the town to celebrate the year of the family; all children are invited to dress up for the day to celebrate. The Giant Christmas Hamper will be "full of wonderful surprises" wrapped and on display under the Christmas Tree at Trustbank. Each gift is donated by Ohakune Retailers Group.
