Maori Arts Festival a first for Raetihi School
Sunday 2 December has been set as the date for the first Maori Arts Festival to be held at Raetihi school. Ten local schools and Kohanga - reos have been invited to participate. A fun day bringing pupils in the area together to
cultivate Maoritanga is the idea behind the festival according to organiser Colleen Hanson, Raetihi bilingual unit teacher. A powhiri at 9. 1 5am will begin the day's festivities. On stage will be various performances, waiatas,
haka and pois by the pupils. Off stage activities include haangi, stalls and kid's art displays. All are welcome.
