Minor road funds
The new Ruapehu Roading Improvement Rate should allow for upgrading of 'Category D' roads in some circumstances, according to the Waimarino Community Board. The board considered the draft policy on the new rate last Thursday, accepting it but suggesting that Category D roads — "any road serving less than three properties" — should be considered for funding from the rate on a case-by-case basis. Under the draft policy council funding for road improvement would not be available for such roads. Board member Winston Oliver said there were such roads that were deserving of assistance.
