River road slip

The Whanganui River Road near Pipiriki has had a series of slips over the last weeks come down over the road at a point 5km south of Pipiriki. The slip source is located well up on the hillside above the road and is expected to carry on slipping for some time. As a result of the unpredictable repeated slipping the Council has had to close the road for long periods. This closure is made for safety reasons to protect the public.
