'Claytons' funeral party
• Now it appears that a group of Old W arriors went to Palmerston North to farewell an old comrade. They went in a minibus loaned through the generosity of a local businessman. Vice President was designateddri ver on orders from President, who quoted rule and bylaw of club dated 1918, that Vice President would drive, and refrain from the demon rum. Problems seem to have arisen after the service when our intrepid group lost the convoy. 'Lotto' may be the name of the game, but it does not make a guide. The cemetery they arri ved at had its last permanent resident move in about the late 1800's. After alovely 'TikiTour' during which the driver remarked he could see 'Rangitoto', the funeral party finally arrived. Sadly too late, other pall bearers had been found. At the court martial the Vice President said in his defence being ex-navy they should have ordered port or starboard, not right or left. Presindent was also culpable as the time taken to get voice into gear meant they were already two blocks past the turn. At the after-function a man of the cloth having a peck was seen to bless a 'Wee Dram' for the President, who said "It is the best I have had all day". Considering it was midday, makes you wonder. The alliance some people form just to get a foot in the door of the Old Warriors Club in the Sky, orTVl or 2. Club members have expressed grave concem re: the ability of the driver, who has undertaken a position with businessmen, to get them to their correct place of rest. Who cares? 'Claytons' funeral party will not be there anyway. Perhaps council would be interested in funding a creche for granddads??
Very concerned
