Couple take on Waiouru garage

Rod and June MacKinnon are the new operators of BP Waiouru. Rod 'did a runner' when the Bulletin called, but June was quite happy to fill in for him and provide some information. Rod has been in Waiouru for about 1 2 years and used to be part owner of another station as well as one in Sanson. June has been in Waiouru for nine years, earning her money as a tailoress for the Army. June said a lot of people are surprised to see her away from the Tailor Shop. "It was sad to leave. There are so many ties and good memories. I don't think I've got any bad memories of the Tailor Shop." When Rod and June first married, June used to do some of the service station books. Now she does all the books. "It's much more enjoyable now it's our own," she said.
