Wednesday 5 October was the first day of a competition which is to be run over the next four weeks. The top four pairs will sit north-south and the rest will take the east-west positions for the next three sessions and hopefully this will make for an evenly matched competition. The first week's northsouth competition was won by Ron Frew and Brian Eades on 49.67% and in

second place were Betty Hammond and Rita Kaiwhare with a score of 48.60%. In the east-west competition first were Bob Tumataroa and Hans Huizing who scored 62.48% while Doug and Tephany Bennett scored 58.56% to take second place.
