TV signal break
A lightning strike on TVNZ's television mast on Mt Taranaki last Sunday morning cut out all television transmission on the TV 1 and TV2 channels over a wide area, including the Waimarino, for several hours. A call to TVNZ in Auckland to report the lack of signal produced the explanation that they were already aware of the problem but were having difficulty getting repair staff up to the transmission mast because of "atrocious" weather conditions on Mt Taranaki. TV1 came back on air shortly after 10.30am and TV2 a few minutes later.
