Pony riders quizzed
Members of the Waimarino Pony Club took part in their annual quiz during the holidays. The evening started with a fish and chip tea and concluded with the presentation of the Roke Horse Mastership Trophy to the winning team. Seventeen members took part making up four mixed branch teams. On the spur of the moment with no preparation but years of experience a late entry was received from parents who provided good competition and a few laughs. The winning team was Kelly Godfrey (captain), John Seifert, Connie Cooper, Michelle Fredricksen; 2nd Ariianda Garland (captain), Hone Brausch, Claire Hyland, Kirk Lilburn; 3rd Marni McGregor (captain), Shelly Gotlieb, Natasha Nicolls, Wayne Smith and Mary Seifert; 4th Adrian Fetzer (captain), Nicola Smith, Briar McGregor, Mark Hyland. Teams were selected to represent their branch at the King Country Area Quiz held at the Lions Dean in Ohakune on Saturday 10 September. Teams from Kaitieke and Taumarunui also took part and the Raetihi branch team won the quiz fB'points ahead of
the Taumarunui team in 2nd place, Ohakune 3rd and Kaitieke 2nd. The winning team consisted of Kelly Godfrey, Marni McGregor, Amanda - Garland, Claire Hyland and Nicola Smith. They were presented with the Ian Weir Challenge trophy. Raetihi also won the KCPCA Roke Trophy, an inter-branch trophy competed for in the various competitions within the area. Adrian Fetzer won the Singapore Rosette, an annual award for a deserving pony club teenager.
