Seekers play in Rotorua netball

The Kurangaituku netball tournament is held in September each year in Rotorua. With over 350 teams competing from New Zealand and Australia in the two-day tournament, it is the biggest of its kind in the world. The organisation required to run such a tournament is unbelieveable, but the whole operation runs like clockwork. This year Seekers netball team from Ohakune played in the tournament and of the eight games played they won three, drew one and lost four. This is a very good result for a team from a small association. Although the team was Seekers in name it was made up of players from Seekers, Panthers and College. The players were Jackie Mott, Jackie Gupwell, Cilla Brooks, Babara Peni, Deborah Foster, Andrea Bennet, Gloria Peni and Sharron Gupwell. Lou Most was the umpire. As well as the netball the players enjoyed their time in Rotorua with such activities as ten-pin bowling, night clubbing, sightseeing and making life difficult for Lou. Seekers hope to return next year.
