Convicted and fined
Daniel Te Huia (aka
Marriner) driver of Christchurch, was convicted and fined $800, court costs $95 and disqualified for six months when he pleaded guilty to a charge of driving with excess breath alcohol (809/1) in Queenstown on 13 May. Defendant explained that he had tried to remove his vehicle at 3 am from a towaway area where he had parked it earlier in order to avoid tow-away fees. He had succeeded in moving it 300 metres before he was stopped by police and breath-tested.
