Hockey gets a boost
Junior hockey in the Waimarino i s in for a revival if a group of adult players keeps up the momentum. Last week the under- 1 4' s group of Form Two and Third Formers from the area got together for coaching, ready for a tournament to be played in Wanganui next week. This follows just one month's training. The aim is to build up hockey by establishing it in the primary schools and Ruapehu College at the same time. Next
year, with the younger ones going on to college, they hope to form a college team. The adult players involved in getting things happening include Ethne Carmichael, Enid Windle, Janet Scarrow, Jill Evans, Marg Hall and Karen Qanston. Some are active players themselves, in the Wanganui Masters team and Castlecliff Reds. The toumament next week will see teams competing from Wanganui, Feilding, Palmerston North, Taranaki, Rangitikei plus a South Auckland team.
