Saies statistics for the Ruapehu District have shown a .continued bouyancy in the rural land market. That's the message from district valuer Mark Johannsen who said that
indications are for a continued increase in the rural area. However the main urban areas are generally stable with only slight increases occurring. In the Ruapehu district 45 rural saies were recorded
in the June 1994 half year compared with 36 in the previous half year. In the southern part of the district an increase in rural activity was noted with a total of six pastoral properties changing hands at an
average of 42% above September 1993 levels. Of these, two were economic units which averaged $ 1486 per hectare and $202 per stockunit. Three lifestyle blocks and three vacant smallholdings
sold at September 1993 levels. Ohakune recorded 35 house saies compared with 27 in the previous period. The average price was two percent above September 12993 levels. An average sale price of $66,214 was recorded. Raetihi township recorded only two house saies averaging four percent above Government Valuation. This is a relatively large drop in volume compared to the seven saies recorded in the previous period. The average sale price was $35,500 with $58,286 in the previous half year. This reflects the mix of properties sold.
