Earthwatch

Following the excitement of last month with earthquakes happening everywhere, this month has been quite the opposite. Very few earthquakes have been recorded to date with most of the reeorded seismic activity centred in the southern area around Lake Rotoaira and Mt Ruapehu. The ARGOS temperature reading system at Crater Lake, Mt Ruapehu, failed due to excess snow in late July but at the time of the failure scientists say the lake was continuing to cool, indicating a singular lack of volcanic activity.
