Early birds get the trash
Waimarino residents are reminded to deposit their refuse bags on the kerbside early, or risk missing out having them collected. That's the message from the Ruapehu District Council and the region's new Taupo-based refuse collector who remind Ohakune residents that rubbish should be out on the
kerbside by 7.30am (in the official paper collection bags) on Monday mornings. Raetihi residents have half an hour' s grace and need to have their refuse outside by 8am. National Park residents have their refuse collected later still. Uncollected bags - either
those put out too late or not in the official bags - become the responsibility of the house-holder who must remove them. A move is underway to charge those who do not deal with their uncollected rubbish bags, when a special trip is needed.
