Waimarino Riding Club President's Report 1993/94 Season

"The past season has been interesting and busy. I was elected onto the National Committee. Apart from time travelling to various meetings and n lot of letter writing, this has meant some expense, meeting new people and helping to organise the first Riding Club Horse Management Examination taken in New Zealand. "This exam has been slow to get off the ground but the Waimarino Riding Club landed a first by organising the certificate at the Rivendell Riding Centre in Wanganui where one candidate sat Stage 3 and five sat the Horse Management. "After the exams in No-

vember our attention turned to preparations for N.I.T.E. We feel it went very well, with our club's win being the icing on the cake. 77% of our club' s members took part, and many family members helped. The weekend was also a lot of fun. "If we had a hard luck trophy it would have gone to Debbie Hill with her broken leg, but thankfully she is much better and back riding. Late in the season Heather Cooper also tore a ligament in one ankle but is nearly better. "The adult gymkhana went well at Waiouru again with 20 riders. The varied programme catered for all and competitors travelled from far and wide. "Social evenings have been held regularly and certificate groups meet as and when required. Two or three farm rides were held including the Christmas ride where some members trekked while the NI.T.E. team practised. Thanks go to Robyn and Max for a great bar-be-cue and social evening. All the local Pony Club competitions including the O.D.E.'s and

Tetrathlon, the Karioi Sports and the Waimarino A & P Show were supported and enjoyed by members. "Thanks go to Adrienne for all her work as Secretary/Treasurer, and all members for their commitment, support and friendship. "Awards last year were: lst N.I.T.E. (for the whole club because the riders could not have done it alone). Stage 3: Joanne Marama. Horse Management: Debbie Hill, Evelyn Cooper and Graeme Hill. Presidents award this year goes to Debbie Hill for her splendid work as N.I.T.E Secretary." N Evelyn Cooper President
